On Thursday evening we will be meeting with the board of education in another attempt to negotiate our contract. While we have been through mediation and three fact findings meetings with PERC appointed neutrals, it is our hope that this face-to-face meeting will allow the opportunity that we believe is necessary to reach an agreement for a fair and equitable settlement. We, the Rockaway Borough Education Association, have been pursuing since the start of negotiations back in March 2011. Once again the RBEA negotiating team will come to the table prepared to reach an agreement. We are expecting the board of education to do the same. This has been and remains our goal.
The RBEA membership has a deep-rooted desire to focus on delivering quality and personalized education to each child
in Rockaway Borough. Despite the myriad of new laws and regulations facing educational professionals in New Jersey, settling our contract now will allow our membership to take that passion to a new level and avoid the distraction that these past months have caused as we continue to work with an expired agreement.
It is our goal to reach a fair and equitable settlement this Thursday. It is our sincere hope that the Board wishes to do the same thing.
